Cleaning Tip

Hello everyone! Today I want to share with you a quick cleaning tip I learned off of guess where?? Of course...Pinterest! So I have created a monthly cleaning calendar with one or two tasks per day so I won't get behind on keeping our house as clean and organized as possible. (I will post more about that soon...hopefully tomorrow!) One of today's tasks was to clean out the microwave. It seams like it is always neglected in our house because it is not noticeable from the outside. But boy was our microwave dirty!

Here is the before picture:
Pretty gross huh? But if I had to guess I'd say I am not the only one who forgets about this appliance! With my task in mind, I went to Pinterest in search of good ideas to clean microwaves. I knew this would NOT be easy or fun. But it turned out to be super easy! Here is what I did...
I microwaved a bowl of water with a splash of lemon juice for about 10 minutes total. (The instructions said 5 but I found that 10 worked better.) The steam loosened all the grime and the lemon juice helped with smells. (The instructions also said vinegar works as well but I decided I would rather smell lemon than vinegar!) While the water microwaved, I quickly cleaned the outside with Lysol Kitchen Cleaner - which by the way is one of my favorite products because it works wonderfully. After the ten minutes were up, I  removed the bowl of water (piping hot so be careful!) and the plate in the center to wash it as well. Then I used a rag (or two!) to wipe out the grime. Mine took a bit of scrubbing with the rag but all in all it was so easy. Took me 5 minutes to a super clean microwave! I was VERY pleased with the result.

I would definitely consider that successful. I know I will be using this tip for a long time! I hope this tip can help you out too!
Have a blessed day,
The Lisics
