Improbable Philanthropist

Ok...where to begin about GO! Camp 2012? Let's start out with this guy...

His name is Al Andrews. Seriously one of the most fascinating men I have ever met. And an incredible speaker!! He started out our session holding a roll of wrapping paper and a beach towel. He said that if you ask any adult what those objects are, they would obviously say wrapping paper and a towel. But if you ask a child what they are...of course it is a cape and a lightsaber! His point was that children are never afraid to dream. And dream big. That is exactly what Al Andrews did when he decided to become "The Improbable Philanthropist."

Al told us his story about how he finally came to the realization that his life dream was to be a philanthropist and give away money to non-profit organizations in order to better the world. The problem is...to donate money you have to actually have money to give away...

So. Al decided to make a bunch of money just so he could give it away. Crazy right? Maybe. But he was just dreaming big. So what is his plan?

Al wrote a children's book. He read it to us and it is incredible. I encourage you to read it and give one to any child you know! After a long road of writing, having the book illustrated and printed, and publishing, the book is finally on sale to purchase. And 100% of proceeds go to charity! Now that is awesome. The book is titled "The Boy, the Kite, and the Wind" and what a terrific story.

You can purchase the book here on his website.

The following video is one that was made about one of the ways Al wanted to donate his money. It is called The Lift Project...check it out:

On July 25th, I saw this on my facebook...

How wonderful!? Enough books were sold to provide a lift for these women. Praise God!

Al Andrews is an incredible man. What he is doing is admirable and based on all his stories he told us, God is seriously working through him, providing for him the way no one else could. So I encourage you, check him out and check out The Boy, The Kite, and The Wind and pass it along...like he said to a friend, family member, or even donate one to a local school or library. Everyone can make a difference if you just
dream big.
